Jinzhou Port is situated in Jinzhou Bay in Liaoning province, China. It handles coal.

Location
The port is situated in Jinzhou Bay in the north east of Bohai Gulf.
Background
In June 2010 the "foundation-stone laying ceremony" of Jinzhou Port Coal Wharf Project Phase I was held at the port. Jinzhou Port Coal Wharf Project was reported to help implement the national “Liaoning Coastal Economic Zone”.[1][2]
The port handled 16 million tonnes of coal in 2009, accounting for 31 percent of the port's total throughput. The coal throughput of the port was expected to reach 16.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) by 2010.[3] In 2013 Jinzhou port completed 19.58 mtpa coal throughput.[4] In 2015 its total coal capacity was 25 mtpa.[5]
Proposed expansion
Jinzhou Port Co. planned to expand the port to handle 100 million tonnes of coal annually, with 70% of financing from China Power Investment and 30% from Jinzhou Port Co.[3] In 2014 the Ministry of Environment rejected the plan as part of a general crackdown on big infrastructure projects that do not meet more strict green guidelines in response to the population's increasing anger at the poor state of the environment.[4]
