Biographical Information

"Jo grew up on a small farm in Devon, learning many traditional farming practices from his father: he was running the large family vegetable garden by the age of 12.After studying drama in London and working in children's theatre for a short while, he took to the road with his family, travelling and performing clown shows in Spain and Portugal. Settling in Spain, Jo, family and friends build a clay, stone and wooden house in the hills of Andalusia where he lived for 11 years farming, gardening, building and performing. Upon returning to England, Jo studied Steiner Education at Plymouth University and then worked for 8 years teaching at the South Devon Steiner School , developing the outdoor classroom curriculum and experiential learning initiative. Four years ago, Jo was enticed away to Embercombe, where he has developed the land as a resource, for materials and educational, team building and personal development initiatives for all ages... Jo continues to develop a range, of land-based educational programmes. He sits on the Embercombe Council as the Presiding Chief..."
