Biographical Information
"John McCall MacBain, a Canadian citizen, is the founder of the McCall MacBain Foundation and Pamoja Capital SA. From 1987 to 2006, Mr. McCall MacBain was the Founder, President and CEO of Trader Classified Media, the world's leading company in the classified advertising sector. The Company was sold in 2006. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer since the inception of the business in 1987. He is a Rhodes Scholar and received an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.A. in Law from Oxford University, a BA in Economics from McGill University as well as an LLD from Dalhousie University in Canada. Mr. McCall MacBain is the Chairman of the European Climate Foundation, a member of the Yale Advisory Board of the Center for Environmental Law and Policy, and finances the OECD Roundtable on Sustainable Development. He is a Trustee of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation (Cape Town) as well as a Trustee of the Rhodes Trust and is a long-time member of the World Economic Forum and the Young President's Organization (YPO). In addition, Mr. McCall MacBain is on the Executive Committee of the McGill Campaign, is a Foundation Fellow of Wadham College, Oxford and actively participates in many charitable activities. He is fluent in French and English with a working knowledge of Spanish and is a qualified land and sea pilot."[1]
John McCall MacBain has been Chair of the Board of Directors of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation since November 2012.
