John Palmer is the Chairman of Solid Energy, a New Zealand government-owned coal company. He has held the position since January 2007.[1]
A biographical note on Solid Energy's website states that "a full time company director, John is also Chairman of Air New Zealand Ltd and a director of AMP Life Ltd, Rabobank Australia Ltd, and Saxton Fruit Ltd. In 1998, John received the Bledisloe Cup for his outstanding contribution to the New Zealand fruit industry and in 1999 received an ONZM for service to the New Zealand kiwifruit industry."[1]
