"Antonio Madero Professor of Mexican and Latin American Politics and Economics in the Department of Government, Vice Provost for International Affairs in The Office of the Provost, Senior Advisor for International Studies to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Chairman of The Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies at Harvard University. Member of the executive committee of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. Faculty Associate of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. "Mr Domínguez is a member of the editorial boards of a number of different international political publications among them the Political Science Quarterly since 1984, the Cuban Studies since 1974, Revista de Ciencias Sociales (Puerto Rico) since 1995, Foreign Affairs in Spanish since 2000, and Latin American Research Review since 2003. He is also contributing Editor of Foreign Policy since 1997.

"He has been a Member and Associate Fellow of the Inter-American Dialogue since the 1990s, as well as a Member of the American Political Science Association, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Latin American Studies Association.

"Previously, between 1990 and 1994 he served as the president of the Institute of Cuban Studies. From 1982 until 1983 he was President of the Latin American Studies Association and in 1982 he became Chairman of the Latin American Scholarship Program of American Universities.

"Jorge I. Domínguez has specialized in comparative politics and international relations in Latin America. His current research is focused on U.S.-Latin American relations, U.S.-Mexican relations, public opinion and elections in Mexico, political transition in Cuba and the assessment of democracy in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"His latest books include Mexico’s Pivotal Democratic Election: Candidates, Voters, and the Presidential Campaign of 2000 (2003), (coeditor, with M. Shifter; chapter co-author) Constructing Democratic Governance in Latin America (2003), (with Rafael Fernández de Castro) The United States and Mexico: Between Partnership and Conflict (2001). He has also been the editor of a television series: "Crisis in Central America: A Four-Part Special Report”, Public Broadcasting System, 1985, including: "The Yankee Years;" "Castro's Challenge;" "Revolution in Nicaragua;" and "Battle for El Salvador."
