Jurassica
"Jurassica will be the world’s most spectacular and up-to-date attraction celebrating the lost world of Prehistoric Earth. Jurassica will bring to a huge audience Britain’s extraordinary scientific heritage and the unique role played by the County of Dorset in the birth of modern science and the understanding of evolution.
"Specifically, the Jurassica project is a proposal to construct a world-class centre in a limestone quarry on the Isle of Portland to celebrate the geological heritage of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast. The project will provide numerous ways in which people can learn and actively participate in both the development, delivery and long term success of this project. The vision is to build a spectacular subterranean geological centre based around the heritage of the Jurassic Coast. Jurassica will be a space where the history of our planet is brought to life."[1] Michael Hanlon, the project’s Chief Executive and Founder; a Board of six Trustees; a five-person Advisory Board; and a Project Team headed by Project Management company Buro Four and Project Coordinator Alison Smith. The project patron is the broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough.
