"The author was born and brought up in Bradford, West Yorkshire. He attended Lorne St. infants and junior school and then Hanson Boys' grammar school, Bradford. He was the school's Head Boy in 1968. After taking a history degree at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, he completed his newspaper training in Cardiff and at the Evening Post in Reading, Berkshire. Nick Garnett spent seventeen years on the Financial Times as a reporter and feature writer, mainly on manufacturing industries. He was the paper's Northern Correspondent, based in Manchester, for four years. He lives in central London." [1]
