Background on Plant
In July 2013, the firm Karataş Enerji was established to build a new 825-MW coal-fired power plant in Mersin province, and submitted the environmental permitting application for the project. The EPDK had completed its preliminary evaluation of the project's operation license application at that point. Further information on Karataş Enerji and its ownership is not readily available.[1][2][3]
Since then there have been no developments on the project, and plans appear to be abandoned.
