Background

In September 2014 Fox Petroleum proposed to the Government of Karnataka the development of a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) at Karwar, with capacity of 7 mtpa, and the MoU was signed in April 2016. In January 2017 Hyundai Heavy Industries won a US$563 million contract to build the FSRU. The project will include a LNG plant at Karawar. The FSRU is expected to be completed by late-2018.

As of March 2019 there has been no further news about the project and it appears to be shelved.
