Coal plant
In October 2012 it was reported that a 500 MW coal plant was being planned in the Congo for 2015, at a cost of €500m. The plant would be used to power the country’s mining firms, particularly in the Katanga region, which have been buying power from Zambia for production. The mining firm is also in talks with the Development Bank of Southern Africa about securing $270m in financing, which is likely to be concluded by December 2012.<re>Diarmaid Williams, "Congo’s coal power plant to reduce shortages," Power Engineering, Oct. 25, 2012.</ref>
