Biographical Information
"A co-founder of Elysian Capital Ken Terry has more than 20 years experience in the private equity industry, during which time he has invested more than £1.1bn in 16 investments. Prior to establishing Elysian Capital, he was a founding partner of Doughty Hanson, one of Europe‘s most established and successful private equity firms.
"Ken’s career started in the Specialist Financing Division of Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), where he worked between 1985 and 1990. Then in 1990 a group of investment professionals from SCB including Ken, Nigel Doughty and Richard Hanson, established CWB Capital Partners - a private equity joint venture between SCB and Westdeutsche Landesbank. In 1995 CWB Capital Partners changed its name to Doughty Hanson, an independent private equity firm.
"Including the periods at SCB and CWB Capital Partners, Ken spent 19 years at Doughty Hanson between 1985 and 2004. He led numerous successful investments, including the private equity group’s investments in TAG Heuer, RHM, Tarkett and LM Glasfiber. In 2002 he met and backed Dr Chai Patel when Doughty Hanson bought the Priory Group.
"Ken has a degree in Economics from Leeds University and a degree in History from Essex University. He is also an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers."[1]
