The Kestrel Mine West coal project is an undeveloped coal deposit in Queensland in which Rio Tinto Coal Australia has a 80% interest. Rio Tinto Coal Australia states that the project has 139 million tonnes of reserves of which 106 million tonnes are indicated and 33 million tonnes are inferred.[1]
The project is located to the west of the existing Kestrel mine and south-west of the town of Tieri.[2]
