Background

Long Beach LNG Terminal was a proposed LNG import terminal in California, United States. In 2007, the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners unanimously voted to end environmental review of the proposed project, effectively terminating the proposal. Many public officials opposed the project due to safety concerns given project's proposed site was in a densely-populated waterfront area.
