Background
The project was proposed in June 2010 by Polska Grupa Energetyczna SA, Poland’s largest power utility and GDF SUEZ Energia Polska SA. Each company will own 50 percent of the plant, while the capacity or value for the venture remain unknown.[1]
The plant may be an alternative to the GDF Suez-proposed Leczna Power Station in Poland, as both are near the Bogdanka coal mine in Lublin.[2]
As of 2012, the project appears to have been abandoned. A detailed strategy plan presented by PGE for the period 2012- 2035 showed no coal plant development in Lublin, only gas plants.[3]
