Mary Tavenner Walker
Mary Tavenner Walker is Vice President of the Congressional Institute, a position she has held since October 2004 at the Republican think tank.
"Walker began her career on the staff of Senator Charles H. Percy (R-Ill) and later served as Legislative Assistant to the late Congressman Bill Emerson (R-MO)," a biographical note states. [1]
Prior to joining the Congressional Institute she worked as "chief lobbyist and policy director on tax, finance, employee benefits and corporate governance issues for the Retail Industry Leaders Association." [2]
"From 1999 to 2001, she was President of Tavenner Consulting Services, LLC, and concurrently served as Executive Director of the American Automotive Leasing Association (AALA), a post to which she was appointed in 1993. She has also served as a Government Relations Advisor for the law firm of Powell, Goldstein, Frazer and Murphy and Vice President of the lobbying firm Boland & Madigan, Inc., Senior Director of Government Relations for the National Association of Wholesaler Distributors and a government relations representative for two corporations," her biographical note states. "In 1993, she was appointed by the House Republican Leader to the National Commission on Family and Medical Leave, created with enactment of the Family and Medical Leave Act ... Walker also served as Assistant Director of Congressional Affairs for the 1992 Presidential re-election campaign of George Bush and was a member of the Congressional Relations team for the 1992 and 1996 Republican conventions," her biographical note states.
