Biographical Information

"Matthew Hoey is an international security analyst who has written on topics such as nuclear forces, emerging technology and space warfare. He began his career with at the Institute for Defense and Disarmament Studies where he was senior research associate. His work has been featured by the Council on Foreign Relations and The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists. He has lectured at venues such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In 2009 he was accepted into the elite Singularity University program at the NASA Ames Research Center and has worked as a consultant to the US government." [1]

"At IDDS Hoey worked under the guidance of renowned arms control expert Dr. Randall Forsberg. From 2003 to 2006, Hoey also served IDDS as a contributing editor to the Arms Control Reporter, for which he wrote on international security issues such as nuclear forces, missile defense, military space systems and dual-use technologies...

"In August of 2011 Hoey will be traveling to Jeju Island South Korea to report on the efforts of villagers from Gangjeong to prevent the construction of an ROK naval base in their community. He has partnered with renowned documentary filmmaker Denis Delestrac (Adventure on the Nile, Pax Americana and the Weaponization of Space) to develop a documentary film." [2]
