Background on Plant

In July 2008, Buğra Enerji applied for permits to build a 373-MW coal-fired power plant in Mersin province. Greenpeace and others strongly criticized the proposed plant. As of April 2012, the project was still being referred to as active, but had apparently not proceeded beyond the development stage.

With no developments as of May 2016, the project appears to be abandoned.
