Background on Plant

In July 2008, Buğra Enerji applied for permits to build a 373-MW coal-fired power plant in Mersin province.[1] Greenpeace and others strongly criticized the proposed plant.[2] As of April 2012, the project was still being referred to as active, but had apparently not proceeded beyond the development stage.[3]

With no developments as of May 2016, the project appears to be abandoned.
