Background

The Mississippi Canyon is an undersea canyon which is part of the Mississippi Submarine valley in the Northern portion of the Gulf of Mexico. The pipeline takes gas form the West Delta 143 Platform to the Venice Gas Plant and 2 interstate pipelines onshore in Southern Louisiana. The gas originates from the Mars, Mensa and Ursa Projects in the Mississippi Canyon. The pipeline measures 45 miles and is 30 inches in diameter. The pipeline has a reported capacity of 800 million cubic feet of gas per day and is entirely owned by Enbridge.
