NewAssignment.net is a project intended to allow citizens to suggested reporting projects, help with background research and provide financial support to fund professional reporters who would complete the story. The project was conceived by New York University professor Jay Rosen.
In September 2006 it was announced that Reuters had decided to contribute $100,000 to the project. [1]
