Background

The 30-inch Nezla OH3 pipeline was commissioned in December 1998 to carry crude oil from Anadarko's Hassi Berkine South (HBKS) oil field for export out of Algeria. The 290 km line links HBKS to the Haoud El Hamra oil dispatching terminal in the Sahara. The pipeline had initial capacity of 300,000 b/d. In January 2001 OH3's capacity was raised to 500,000 b/d.
