North Pulau Laut Coal Terminal

Background
The construction of the terminal was completed in 1994. In a 2007 presentation to investors Bumi Resources stated that the terminal can handle "Handymax up to Capesize" ships, and has a shiploading capacity of 1.1 million tonnes per month. It also has a stockpile capacity of 600,000 tonnes."[1] The port is capable of handling 150,000 DWT coal bulk carriers.[2]
PT Arutmin Indonesia operates six surface coal mines: Senakin, Satui, Mulia, Batulicin, Asam-asam and Kintap. All are located near Arutmin’s North Pulau Laut Coal Terminal. Arutmin has two smaller ports which load coal from the Senakin coal mine onto self-discharging barges and another one to handle production from the Satui coal mine. Coal from the barges is then shipped out via the North Pulau Laut Coal Terminal. In 2013, Arutmin’s total coal mined reached 29.6 million tonnes.[3][4]
