Shubik was a member of the National Cancer Advisory Board (NCAB) at the Eppley Institute and was NCAB's most outspoken critic of smoking and the tobacco industry. On October 4,1974 in Volume 1, No. 35 issue of the cancer newsletter, Dr. Shubik called anyone who takes money from the tobacco industry a "prostitute." [1]
