Location
The map below shows the area 50 km north of Tuy Hoa city in Phú Yên province, the approximate location where the plant would be built.
Background
In December 2006, it was announced that Japan's Electric Power Development Company (J-Power) had chosen Phú Yên province as the site for a 1,200-MW, $1.2 billion coal-fired power plant, on a site "50km north of Tuy Hoa city." A provincial official said that J-Power would finalize plans and applications within two years.[1]
Later news about this proposal is not available, and it is unclear whether the project is still moving forward; it is also unclear whether this project is perhaps an earlier iteration of J-Power's Tan Thanh power station, in Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu province.
