Pioneer Gas Pipeline is an operating natural gas pipeline in Canada.

Location

The pipeline runs from Tidewater Midstream’s Brazeau River natural gas complex located 49 km west of Drayton Valley, Alberta to TransAlta’s Sundance and Keephills generating stations near Wabamum, Alberta.

Background

The pipeline was proposed as a joint venture between TransAlta and Tidewater Midstream in December 2017. Construction began in November 2018 and the pipeline was commissioned in October 2019. Initial capacity is 130 million cubic feet per day (MMcf/d) but may later be expanded to 440 MMcf/d.
