Background

On December 15, 2016, Höegh LNG Holdings signed an FSRU contract with Global Energy Infrastructure Limited for GEIL's LNG import project near Karachi, Pakistan. The project is the first private LNG import terminal in Pakistan and will be located at the LNG zone in Port Qasim. The construction of the terminal was planned to commence early 2017, and the expected start-up was second quarter of 2018.[2] However, the terminal was inaugurated in August of 2017, only 11 months after the contract between the Pakistan government and Engro Terminal Limited was signed.[3]
