The port is situated on the north bank of Beibu Bay and is the farthest hub port on the southwest coast of China.

Background

In 2013 Fangchenggang handled more than 100 million tonnes of cargo, mainly coal, iron ore and fertiliser.[1] That year the port's imported coal stocks hovered above 6 million tonnes a month, or around 72 million tonnes for the year.[2]
