In December 2008, President-elect Barack Obama announced in his weekly address some of the members of the members of his science and technology team. In particular he announced that he would appoint[1]:
- Dr. John Holdren as Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and Co-Chair of the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
- Dr. Harold Varmus, Co-Chair of PCAST; and
- Dr. Eric Lander, Co-Chair of PCAST.
