- On January 10th, 2005 "President Bush held a meeting with a select number of non-governmental organizations involved in the tsunami disaster relief efforts. Two of those organizations, Catholic Relief Services and Relief International-Schools Online, are ECA grantees involved in School Connectivity programs in Southeast Europe, Bangladesh, Syria, West Bank/Gaza and Tajikistan. The meeting was held at USAID headquarters office to acknowledge organizations that were already working in the areas prior to the tsunami disaster and shifted their efforts to humanitarian relief. Following the private meeting, President Bush said, "After that meeting I must tell you my spirits were raised even higher than they were walking into the meeting. There is no question in my mind that the NGOs of America provide such vital, vital help in times of disaster."" [3]
