Biographical Information
"A Swiss agronomist, Mr. Haller planned and carried out for the Bamburi Portland Cement Company the rehabilitation of their strip-mined coral limestone quarries in Kenya.
"To date 200 hectares of quarry wasteland have been transformed into a thriving self-sustaining and economically viable ecosystem with a vast variety of wildlife. Over 150 species of indigenous trees are succeeding the original timber monoculture."[1] wiki
In August 2004 when Kenya Wildlife Service board chairman Colin Church was suspended indefinitely "in the wake of a three-week-long controversy that followed recommendations that the service privatises its income-generating centres." Board member, Dr Rene Haller, was appointed acting chairman. [2]
