Background

The Rostock-Schwedt oil pipeline transports crude oil within Germany.

It has been used as an alternative pipeline to the Druzhba Pipeline. For example, when Russia halted crude oil shipments to European refineries in January 2007 over a dispute with Belarus, the PCK Raffinerie Schwedt in Germany said it was prepared to use the Rostock-Schwedt instead should the stoppage continue.[2]
