Background
The proposed pipeline has received the backing of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mongolian President Khaltmaagiin Battulga, while Chinese President Xi Jingping agreed to study the project. In August 2018 the three countries agreed to create the Mongolia-Russia-China Economic Corridor to facilitate the construction of railways, roads, and natural gas oil pipelines through Mongolia.[2]
