Background

Sena Kalyan Sangstha is a proposed 1320MW Coal Fired Power Plant at Payra Port, Patuakhali, Bangladesh. It is sponsored by Sena Kalyan Sangstha (SKS), a trust owned and operated by the Bangladesh Army. Although Sena Kalyan Sangstha reportedly signed a JV with SDIC China in December 2018,[1] SDIC ruled out funding new coal power plants in March 2019.[2]

The plant is not listed in Bangladesh's 2016 Master Plan "Revisited", an updated version of the country's energy plan released in November 2018.[3]
