Location

The Port of Tianjin is located on the western shore of the Bohai Bay, in the estuary of the Haihe River, 170km south east of Beijing and 60km east of Tianjin city.

Background

Shenhua Tianjin Coal Terminal is owned by national coal mining and energy company China Shenhua. Phase I of the terminal has an annual capacity of 45 million tonnes.[1]

A phase II was under development in 2014 to handle 35 million tonnes of coal a year, for a total of 80 million tonnes of capacity at the terminal.[2]

The terminal had seaborne coal sales of 31 million tonnes in 2013.[3]
