Proposed carbon capture plants
Skyonic received $9 million from ConocoPhillips, BP, Luminant (a unit of Energy Future Holdings), and Zachry Corp. to fund its first commercial facility at a cement plant. The $125 million system is expected to capture 75,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year from Capitol Aggregates Inc.’s cement plant in San Antonio, Texas. Construction is planned to start in September 2013 and production in 2014.[1]
The project is also funded by $28 million in grants from the U.S. Department of Energy.[1]
