Background

The South Tunisia Development Project (or Nawara Development Project) is aimed at developing the Nawara gas field in southern Tunisia. Part of the project is the construction of a 24-inch, 370-kilometer gas pipeline from the Nawara field to the port city of Gabès.[1][2][3]

Construction on the pipeline began in 2015.[4] In October 2018 the Tunisian Minister of Energy stated that the project would become operational in June 2019.[5]
