Biography

Suzette Janoff (formerly Suzette Ahrendt) is a former American Airlines flight attendant who worked aboard commercial aircraft for over 12 years when smoking was still permitted on airlines. Janoff sued Philip Morris, the Lorillard Tobacco Co., R.J. Reynolds and Brown & Williamson, claiming that secondhand smoke on airliners caused her chronic sinusitis.

In September, 2002, a six person jury in Dade County (Miami, Florida) court ruled in favor of the tobacco industry, but Ms. Janoff was granted a new trial based on the charge that the tobacco industry lawyers unfairly introduced inadmissible evidence.
