Background

Tassie Shoal LNG Terminal is a proposed LNG terminal in Northern Territory, Australia.[1] It is owned by Melbana Energy (formally MEO Australia).

In 2016 Tassie Shoal LNG received environmental approval for the LNG facility and two methanol plants. The two methanol plants would use four trillion cubic feet of raw gas over 25 years.[2]

Gas for the terminal would come from the Barossa field, which is located 300 km northwest of Darwin and is scheduled to be developed by ConocoPhillips in 2023.[3]

Natural Gas in Australia

As of 2017, Australia is the second largest LNG exporter after Qatar. The country exports almost 44 million tons a year. [4]
