TheRealityCheck.org (Inc) is both a 501(c)(3) non-profit group and a web-based news service of the public relations company Heritage New Media Partners, Inc.
Guidestar records the group describing itself as "a conservative issue advocacy and information group established to promote and defend conservative social, political and economic principles nationally." [1] "Our work is achieved primarily through the origination and dissemination of commentary, analysis, news and research tools via the public internet and other channels. Additionally we provide media distribution, public relations and support services for the conservative grass-roots community," it states.
On its website HNMP states that "since its first publication back in November of 2002, TheRealityCheck.org has established itself as one of the fastest growing and important new conservative voices on the web having achieved hits in excess of 2.25 million per month and has been listed by Alexa, a top web-site ranking service, as the number six (6) most popular conservative political site on the web." [2] In July 2006, Alexa.com ranked the site as at number 14 for conservative news sites. [3] It is ranked 90,061 on a three-month average overall and has dropped over by over 14,000 in the last quarter. [4]
It described its accomplishments for the 2004 calendar year as comprising the formal launch of TRC Media Services and the regular publication and distribution of "research and articles from over 100 of the nations top grass-roots writers and activists." It's stated objectives for 2005 were to "Complete roll-out of The Reality Check On Campus watchdog and student support program" and "secure additional general operations and program funding." [5]
As of July 2006, the link to The Reality Check On Campus did not work.
Funding
The group's annual return lodged with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service for the 2003 calender year states that its total revenue was $669. [6] In 2004 it was not required to submit an IRS return as its income was less than $25,000.
