Tobacco Institute Executive Committee
{{#badges:Tobaccowiki}} The Tobacco Institute Executive Committee was comprised of the Chief Executive Officers of the member companies of the Tobacco Institute. Companies could also designate secondary members. There were generally 10 members of the TI Executive Committee, and they were responsible for setting Institute policy on key legislative, regulatory and public affairs concerns. The Executive Commitee worked closely with the Institute's Federal Relations Committee. The Executive Committee also served as liason between the President of the Institute and the Institute's Board. The TI Executive Committee reviewed and approved of strategic plans to carry out the Institute's mission: "to lead and direct the tobacco industry's resources in defending the industry against unwarranted restrictions and promoting acceptance of the role of tobacco in society."[1]
The Chair of the Tobacco Institute Executive Committee served as the cigarette industry's chief spokesperson.[2][3]
