Background

Tornio Manga LNG Terminal is a liquefied natural gas (LNG) regasification terminal currently under construction in Lapland, extremely close to the Swedish border. The project is being built by Manga Terminal Oy, a joint venture of Outokumpu Group (45%), Svenskt Stål AB (SSAB) (25%), Skangas (25%), and EPV Energy (5%). The construction contract was signed with Finnish firm Wärtsilä in December 2013. Construction began in December 2014, and is scheduled to be completed in July 2018. Gas from the terminal is expected to be used by industries, mines, and gas consumers located in northern Finland and northern Sweden.

The terminal entered commercial operation in November 2017.
