Background
The pipeline system transports oil from the Troll Oil And Gas Field to Mongstad. It consists of two pipelines: Troll Oil Pipeline I, commissioned in 1995, and Troll Pipeline II, commissioned in 1999.[1] The licenses of both pipelines expires in 2023.[2][3]
In its first 20 years of oil production, the Troll oil field produced 1.56 billion barrels, generating NOK 460 billion in income.[4]
Troll Oil Pipeline I
Troll Oil Pipeline I originates at Troll B and terminates at the Mongstad terminal.[2] It spans 85 km and has a diameter of 16 in.[2] The pipeline was approved in 1993 and commissioned in 1995 with the start of production from Troll B.[2]
Troll Oil Pipeline II
Troll Oil Pipeline II originates at Troll C, as well as from branches originating at Fram, Gjøa, and Kvitebjørn, and terminates at the Mongstad terminal.[3] It spans 80 km and has a diameter of 20 in.[3] The pipeline was commissioned in 2009.
