Background
Tychy Power Station is owned by the Tauron Group's Polska Energia, Poland’s second-largest utility. The company plans to convert its 50 MW unit 1 and 65 MW unit 2 from coal to biomass, to meet stricter emissions limits that will be taking effect in 2016.[1][2]
New coal unit
Tauron plans to also build a new coal-fired heat and power unit (unit 3) at the station with the capacity to generate 50 megawatts.[1][3]
