Background

The Upper Egypt Gas Pipeline was completed in 2009. The pipeline was built in six phases:[1][2][3]

  • Phase 1: Dahshour to Koriamat, 88 km, 36"
  • Phase 2: Koriamat to Beni Suef, 28 km, 30"
  • Phase 3: Beni Suef to Abu Qirqas, 150 km, 32"
  • Phase 4: Abu Qirqas to Asyut, 150 km, 32"
  • Phase 5: Asyut to Girga, 122 km, 32"
  • Phase 6: Girga to Aswan, 392 km, 30"

  • Parent Company: Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS)
  • Current capacity: 1,160.24 million cubic feet per day[4]
