Background

The plant consisted of two 60 MW subcritical units that began operating in 1970, owned by Vidachim.

Vidachim went bankrupt in 2001. In 2014 Bulgaria's National Electricity Company transferred a small amount of money to Vidachim to keep the company operating, including its coal plant.
