In addition, the Foundation has programs that make grants to advance the field of philanthropy, and to support disadvantaged communities in the San Francisco Bay Area...

"Over the past few years, the Hewlett Foundation has been able to steadily increase the total amount of its gifts and grants. In 2002, the Foundation distributed a total of $195,221,736. The following year the figure was $254,320,000. By 2004 it had increased to $268,669,188 and last year that total had risen to $319,916,093.
