NRE No. 1 Colliery is an existing underground coal mine owned by Gujarat NRE Australia Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd. The mine is located 12 km west of Port Kembla. The expansion, which is currently the subject of a feasibility study, would cost $62 million. It would employ 15 people during construction and 250 when operating.[1]
