Background
Zaule LNG Terminal is a proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Trieste, Italy. The project was first proposed by Spanish firm Gas Natural Fenosa in 2004. It would cost about $600 million.[1]
The EIA was completed in July 2009.[2] As of 2013, Italy and Slovenia were in a dispute over the project, with Slovenia calling for it to be cancelled.[3][4]
In March 2015, two years after cancelling the project's environmental permits, the Ministry of Economic Development apparently began the process of granting a new environmental permit.[5][6]
In May 2018 Gas Natural Fenosa cancelled the project.[7]
