Background

Approved by the Zhoushan government in 2013, the Zhoushan LNG Terminal was originally scheduled to be completed in 2016 yet experienced unspecified delays.[1][2] Phase I of the terminal is expected to be commissioned in 2018 with a receiving capacity of 3 mtpa.[3] In late 2016, CIMC Enric completed two 160,000 cubic meter storage tanks for the LNG terminal.[4][5]

In October 2018 the terminal began commercial operations.[6]

Expansion Background

A second phase expanding the terminal's capacity to 5 mtpa is expected to come online in 2021.[6] It began construction in Nov 2018. The newly added capacity is 2*160,000 cubic meters gas.[7] In April 2019 it was reported that the expansion would create an additional 7 mtpa of capacity and be completed by 2022.[8]
