Background on Plant
In August 2013, Zorlu Enerji applied to build a 1,220-MW coal-fired power plant in Manisa province. In September 2013, Zorlu announced this project as part of an overall drive to build four new fossil fuel-fired power plants in Turkey (two powered by coal and two by natural gas) with a total capacity of 4,800 MW. The plant would burn imported coal.[1][2][3]
In January 2015 it was announced that the project was cancelled.[4]
