Blair G. Childs is Senior Vice President of Public Affairs for the Premier, Inc. a healthcare alliance of hospitals and healthcare sites. One of Childs’ more notable roles was running the public affairs department for the Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) where he organized and served as Executive Director of the Coalition for Health Insurance Choices, the insurance industry front group that sponsored the “Harry and Louise” ad campaign against President Clinton's health care reform effort circa 1993. Childs also served as Executive Director of the American Tort Reform Association from 1986 to 1989. ATRA was the largest and most broadly based coalition ever assembled, representing non-profit, professional and trade associations with memberships exceeding 50 million Americans. During Childs’ tenure, ATRA helped the tobacco industry spearhead the state tort reform movement, implementing an advocacy campaign that resulted in the passing of major reform measures in 42 states.[1][2]
